Seven components of the groups were found to be somewhat helpful to very helpful. Participants rated “hearing from others in the same situation” as the most helpful aspect of the group (M = 3.94), followed by “having a safe place to talk” (M = 3.78), “receiving support from other group members and/or facilitators” (M = 3.77), “receiving information about domestic violence” (M = 3.70), “participating in discussions or group exercises” (M = 3.63), “meeting other women who might become friends” (M= 3.20), and “having time away from home for myself (M = 3.13). Component helpfulness ratings are presented in Figure 7.
